Wine shop

prototype

An entrepreneur wanted a prototype for a wine store that not only sold wine but taught wine literacy. Our design creates a system of shelving for a library of bottles on a long browsing wall that culminate in a wine bar for tastings and winemaking seminars.

An exceptionally large variety and quantity of wines stored on linear steel shelving units and in cabinets below wrap the store interior allowing easy access to both cases and individual bottles. Floor units in the center of the space present the most current selections on beds of white gravel with chalk signage slates adding a tactile and aural dimension to the experience. Wine tastings/seminars are held in the back of the store near a climatized collectibles room where audio/video presentations can be projected onto the walls above the shelves. The spectacle can then be viewed from the street through the frame of the steel storefront.
